Modiin

The greater Modiin (also spelled Modi'in) area (Hevel Modiin) is located half way between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv some 10 kms east from Ben-Gurion airport.

It is located at the site where the revolt of Maccabim started.

Modiin is also the name of a very young city located at the heart of the Modiin area. The first residents moved in around 1997. Currently (Dec 2003) after uniting with neighboring Maccabim-Reut it has about 55,000 residents. It has been planned to become the 3rd largest city in Israel within a few years.

Public transportation is provided by a company called Margalit that provides bus connection to Jerusalem, Tel-Aviv and other cities.
